From Quinta Senhora do Rosário. 25% Touriga Franca, 25% Tinta Roriz, 5% Touriga Nacional, 5% Tinto Cão, 20% Tinta Barroca, 20% others. Totally destemmed grapes, followed by a slow fermentation with temperature control up to 28 ºC. Soft filtration. Average age 8 years (between 6 and 12 years). TA 4.4 g/l, pH 3.35, RS 108 g/l. Winemaker Cláudia Quevedo. More brick than tawny as there is still quite a lot of red in the colour. Lovely sweet red fruits on the nose, mostly cherry, spice (cinnamon/nutmeg), bitter orange, some dried cherry. Alcohol is present but not intrusive and all that sweet red fruit on the palate is balanced by pretty good acidity, with notes of apricot and orange. Gently chewy texture and much better harmony than many young tawnies. Just a little bit of fire from the spirit. In his Zoom presentation, Oscar Quevedo Jr suggested pairing this with desserts, nuts or cheeses.
