Viticulture:
The 2024 growing season in the Douro Valley can be described as balanced and promising. A cool, wet winter replenished vital water reserves, followed by a mild spring that ensured an even budburst across the vineyards. Late spring and summer brought consistent warmth with low disease pressure, allowing for slow and steady ripening. A brief heat spike from late July to early August was carefully managed through timely canopy work, highlighting its increasing importance in the face of more frequent heatwaves. By mid-September, we began harvesting the Touriga Nacional grapes for this blend, with vineyards showing healthy, concentrated fruit of exceptional quality. Overall, 2024 is expected to yield elegant, structured wines with vibrant acidity and refined tannins.
